Why are we the
"trusted name in building consultancy"?
KLHB
Building Consultants Limited offer a variety of building consultancy services to
property owners, builders, government departments and building
product suppliers, through either direct contact with the client, or through the
client's legal representative.
Our services
include building reporting, dispute resolution, expert witness, leaky building
investigations, project management and maintenance management.
Kevin, the Managing Director, is a highly
qualified and respected professional in his field. He is a Registered
Building Surveyor, part of a small but elite group of experienced and highly trained
people who specialise in consumer protection. As Kevin says "if we don't
look after the interests of the building owner, who does?". Kevin stood
down as President of the New Zealand Institute of Building Surveyors in August
2005 after four years of leading the Institute and the Country, through the
leaky building crisis.
The identification of major
weathertightness problems that finally erupted in 2001, causing the Government
to investigate the systemic failure of the industry was first identified by
members of the New Zealand Institute of Building Surveyors who had been shouting
into the wilderness since 1999. Kevin has been part of the many task force
committees and groups engaged to rectify those problems and to implement the new
Building Act.
When we are not assisting
people with problems in building failures, we are actively involved in the
project management of new work, acting on behalf of our clients to ensure that
their buildings are built right, first time. We've project managed tens of
millions of dollars worth of construction work over the years and all those
projects have been built to last.
KEVIN
LONGMAN
entered the building industry in 1964 as a building cadet and has gained
experience in many aspects of the industry including physical construction,
supervision, project management, construction management and reporting, as well
as acting in the capacity of arbitrator, mediator and as an expert witness.
Kevin has completed the Fellowship examination requirements and was admitted as
a Fellow of the Arbitrators' and Mediators Institute of New Zealand Inc in May
2001. In November 2003, he was approved by AMINZ for admission as a
Registered Adjudication Panel Member and in 2005, as a Registered Arbitration
Panel Member.
He is a Registered Member of the New Zealand Institute of Building
Surveyors (NZIBS), and a Certified Weathertight Inspector. Kevin acted as President
of the New Zealand Institute of Building Surveyors from 2001-2005, through the
"leaky building" crisis and the subsequent implementation of new legislation.
He is also a remedial panel member of NZIBS.
